References for various books, articles and chapters are provided for further reading. All provide useful perspectives on the topics addressed by the respective practice tools. Needless to say, there is an extensive literature in most of these areas and so we have had to be very selective. The handful of items cited here should prove particularly helpful but those using the practice tools may wish to read more widely.

Achenbach, T. (1997) ‘What is Normal? What is Abnormal? Developmental Perspectives on Behavioural and Emotional Problems’, in Luthar, S. S., Burack, J. A., Cicchetti, D. and Weisz, J. R. (eds) Developmental Psychopathology: perspectives on adjustment, risk and disorder, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press.

Rutter, M., Giller, H. and Hagell, A. (1998) Anti-social Behaviour by Young People, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press.

Rutter, M. and Taylor, E. (eds) (2002) Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Fourth Edition, Oxford, Blackwell.
